SFMade is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, established in 2010 and headquartered in San Francisco. It is the only organization of its kind focused on building San Francisco’s economic base by developing the local manufacturing sector.

Our mission is to sustain companies producing locally-made products, encourage entrepreneurship and innovation, and create employment opportunities for San Francisco's diverse workforce.

In addition to working with manufacturers and their employees, SFMade engages with the larger San Francisco community by offering educational workshops, factory tours, and other programs designed to heighten the public awareness of manufacturing and its role in the local economy.

In 2016 we served 631 manufacturers who generated a revenue of $882 million, created 450 new jobs and retained another 4,650.

What entrepreneurs say about SFMade

Not only has SFMade been an invaluable resource every year since we joined in 2011, but you have welcomed us as a member of a community. It’s never mattered that we were small.

We feel connected to other manufacturers when we participate in workshops, talks, tours, and of course Ramp it Up!, and we have cultivated relationships with other makers. We feel less like we have to do this alone. We’ve got friends in high places, so when the going gets tough, just knowing that SFMade has our back has helped to propel us forward.
— Jefferson McCarley, CEO of Mission Bicycle
SFMade was the catalyst for helping us understand this market. We were in dire straights and needed such quick turnaround with help finding funding, figuring out HR, help with hiring, and understanding how to work with other companies… There’s nothing that SFMade hasn’t helped us with.
— Alex Snyder, CEO of the DNA Group
SFMade played a key role in driving awareness to create this opportunity for us [being discovered and featured by the Discovery Channel’s hit show How It’s Made]. So far the episode has aired in Canada and the response has been so positive we are planning to launch distribution there this year to support the growing demand. Our sales are projected to grow 400% over 2016. We are awaiting a US air date which will most certainly accelerate our brand and business. So thanks!
— Joe Cannella, Owner of Cannella Spirits
